MAI (History)

Museum Association of India (MAI) was formed in 1944. It represents the entire museum community. Dr. Moti Chandra, Dr. V S Agarwal, Prof Deva Prasad Ghosh, Rai Krishna Das were the founding members of the association. The association is independently funded by its membership and it is governed by a board of trustees elected by members.

The association has been acting as a treasury of innovative ideas in the field museum studies. Many associated professionals strengthened and encouraged the association with their scholarly contributions. The associated scholars are Dr. Grace Morley, Dr. N R Banerjee, Dr. C. Shivamurthy, Dr. O. P Agarwal, Dr. V H Bedekar, Dr. M L Niham, Prof. Dilip K Ray, Prof. Somnath Bhattacharya, Prof Iftikar Alam Khan, Dr. S . M Nair, Smt Smita Baxi, Shri Sadashiv Gorakshakar, Prof. G N Pant, Prof A K Das, Prof I K Bhatanagar.
